Taking the myth of Icarus as a metaphor and starting
point, theÊ present article deals with the ethical boundaries
regarding Assisted Fertilization. Several levels of
analysis are applied: the social level as far as the
new filiations are concerned; the scientific level and
the issues emerging from scientific findings; the level
of the couple which resorts to the technique and the
birth of a baby. The necessity to create Bioethics Committees,
the constitution of Interdisciplinary Teams and the
place of the psychoanalyst facing this novel clinical
entity are also analyzed.ÊÊ
